80% of heat pump owners in Poland are satisfied with their heating choice, a recent survey shows.

Satisfaction is equally high among residents of newly built houses and those who decided to install them in existing homes, regardless of the type of heat pump chosen. What’s more, 73% declared that they would choose a heat pump again.

Paweł Lachman, heating industry expert and president of the Polish Heat Pump Technology Development Organization (PORT PC) called it “tangible proof that heat pumps truly meet the needs of Polish households. Such a high level of user satisfaction is a strong signal that this technology works well in practice – it is convenient, maintenance-free, and ensures predictable heating costs. This is the best recommendation for those seeking the most efficient heat source, resistant to fluctuations in energy carrier prices.”

Only 5% said they were dissatisfied with their heat pump. For comparison: among gas boiler users, around 60% report satisfaction, while pellet boiler users reach about 70%.

The Polish results match with others from recent surveys of heat pump owners in the UK and Germany.

About the survey

The survey was conducted by SW Research in August 2025 on a representative sample of 1,000 heat pump users in Poland using a hybrid method: 400 online interviews (CAWI) on the SW Panel internet panel and 600 telephone interviews (CATI) with individuals using heat pumps. The analysis covered both technical aspects as well as levels of satisfaction and loyalty to this technology.

The Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat is pleased to announce that UL Solutions has achieved official recognition as a testing laboratory for Heat Pump KEYMARK certification. This marks another important milestone in UL Solutions’ expanding involvement in the scheme.

With this designation, UL Solutions becomes the 31st recognised testing laboratory under the Heat Pump KEYMARK scheme. The company’s laboratory in Carugate, near Milan, is now fully authorised to carry out the rigorous testing procedures required by the certification process.

This milestone empowers UL Solutions to offer a fully integrated service to heat pump manufacturers from initial product testing to final certification, streamlining compliance with European standards and reinforcing product credibility across the continent.

“Becoming a recognised testing laboratory within the Heat Pump KEYMARK scheme is a natural extension of UL Solutions’ support for our customers with comprehensive and integrated services,” said Alberto Vitaletti, senior product manager for HVACR at UL Solutions. “It strengthens our ability to help manufacturers demonstrate compliance and performance, especially in a market increasingly focused on energy efficiency and low-global-warming-potential technologies.”

Testing laboratories are a cornerstone of the KEYMARK certification process. They conduct independent and standardised tests that underpin the KEYMARK label, bolstering performance, safety and consistency. The inclusion of UL Solutions’ Carugate facility adds valuable capacity and expertise to this essential network.

“We are very pleased to welcome UL Solutions as a recognised testing laboratory within the Heat Pump KEYMARK scheme,” said Leopoldo Micò, head of the Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat. “UL Solutions’ dual role as both a testing laboratory and a certification body reflects the growing trust and alignment between KEYMARK’s rigorous procedures and industry leaders committed to sustainability and excellence.”

The continued expansion of the Heat Pump KEYMARK network underlines the scheme’s importance in helping the European heat pump industry meet ambitious climate and energy targets. UL Solutions’ extended participation is a strong vote of confidence in the KEYMARK’s value and integrity.

Have you heard about Heat Pump Day?

On and around 21 October , we will be celebrating (you guessed it) heat pump technology and how it’s contributing to creating a sustainable system, fostering energy security, and supporting the decarbonisation of the heating and cooling sector.

We have a lot of special activities planned, but we need your support to amplify this initiative through online and in-person event.

Are you on board? Would you like to join forces with us to make a meaningful impact?

PULSEN is the Swedish Refrigeration & Heat Pump Association’s annual survey of retailers and installers of heat pumps for consumers.

The Swedish Cooling & Heating Pump Association ( Svenska Kyl & Värmepumpföreningen – SKVP) developed an annual survey, PULSEN to follow the heat pumps’ market.

This tool aims to follow the development of the heat pump market over the years in terms of price development, employees in the industry, what the heat pump replaces, and the view of the market and the development of those who participate.

For example, as reported on the SVKP website, this year, 95 of a total of 714 respondents from their installer members participated in the web-based survey. It should be pointed out that a large number of companies that have not responded do not sell heat pumps to consumers and therefore have not been relevant to the survey.

One of PULSEN’s perhaps most interesting questions is the one relating to the cost of various heat pump installations in a villa with a heating requirement of 20,000 kWh / year.

The replacement market for heat pumps, that is, when an older heat pump is replaced by a new one, continues to grow, as expected, and it is now the most common scenario when members install heat pumps. The percentage share is 25.1 percent, an increase from the previous year’s 21.6 percent. Instead, if we look at electric heating (electric boiler + direct-acting electricity) as a unit, it is at its peak with 37.1 percent. Heat pump sales thus lead the process to a large extent to a reduced electricity requirement in our Swedish homes, premises and single-family homes.
