But what if the heat already being generated \u2013 often considered waste \u2013 could be captured and reused?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Armstrong International carried out a detailed thermal assessment of the site in Verona, Italy. \u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working closely with Evotec\u2019s in-house teams, the engineers identified an exciting opportunity: to tap into the energy already circulating in the plant\u2019s cooling system and put it to better use.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How? By installing an industrial heat pump that could recover waste heat and turn it into a reliable source of renewable thermal energy.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing so, Evotec could reduce its reliance on natural gas while improving energy efficiency.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the installation of the new heat pump system delivered by Armstrong the site is saving an estimated 1,604 tonnes of CO\u2082 emissions and avoiding the use of 760,000 cubic metres of natural gas every year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s more, through Italy\u2019s \u2018white certificate\u2019 support scheme, the project is expected to deliver annual energy savings worth around \u20ac89,000, reinforcing the idea that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find more details<a href=\"https:\/\/www.evotec.com\/en\/sciencepool\/evotec-and-armstrong-international-pioneering-sustainable-solutions-for-a-net-zero-future\"> here<\/a>.
