This was mainly due to governments helping consumers with upfront purchase costs by providing stable incentive schemes, and with running costs by reducing tax on electricity.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>In some countries tax on electricity is\u00a0<a id=\"OWAc6162a3b-fd00-3b04-8d14-93e54819519d\" title=\"https:\/\/ehpa.org\/news-and-resources\/press-releases\/electricity-cost-drives-successful-heat-pump-markets\/\" href=\"https:\/\/ehpa.org\/news-and-resources\/press-releases\/electricity-cost-drives-successful-heat-pump-markets\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">several times higher<\/a>\u00a0than that on gas, making even highly energy efficient heat pumps more expensive to run.
