{"id":8953,"date":"2024-01-22T17:02:19","date_gmt":"2024-01-22T15:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ehpa.org\/?p=8953"},"modified":"2024-05-17T14:23:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T12:23:09","slug":"19-organisations-urge-eu-commission-publish-heat-pump-action-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ehpa.org\/news-and-resources\/press-releases\/19-organisations-urge-eu-commission-publish-heat-pump-action-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"20 organisations urge EU Commission: publish Heat Pump Action Plan for a net-zero Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Today, a coalition of <strong>20 organisations<\/strong>, including industry associations, NGOs, consumer groups, and think tanks <strong>issued an urgent call to European Commission President von der Leyen.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ehpa.org\/news-and-resources\/press-releases\/the-european-commission-has-postponed-its-heat-pump-action-plan-until-after-the-eu-elections-the-decision-comes-despite-the-commissions-repeated-assurances-that-the-action-plan-would-be-out\/\">unexpected delay<\/a> in publishing the Heat Pump Action Plan, originally set for the first quarter of 2024 and now postponed until after the EU elections, threatens Europe&#8217;s energy transition, they warn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With heating and cooling contributing to 38% of Europe\u2019s CO2 emissions, heat pumps will play a critical role in achieving climate neutrality and, therefore, in shaping the net-zero economy \u2013 leading to jobs and investments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jozefien Vanbecelaere, Head of EU Affairs at the European Heat Pump Association&nbsp;<\/strong>said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>The heat pump sector needs more stable policies to boost the shift from fossil fuels and energy imports to clean heat and energy independence. Pushing back the Plan that can deliver is a mistake.
